The Fraserburgh Lodge of Freemasons #1055

The First Fifty Years

PREFACE

This is a history of "1055" and of the people who have made the Lodge what it is to-day. It is perhaps slightly different from the usual method of presenting a Masonic history, in this respect, that it does not give a purely chronological account of the important landmarks of the Lodge in annotated form.

History is the story of man; this is the story of The Fraserburgh Lodge of Freemasons No. 1055, on the Roll of the Grand Lodge of Scotland. This history has been brought out as part of the celebrations of the Jubilee Year of the Lodge, and although the Lodge has just been in force for 50 years in its present form, may it continue to flourish till the end of time.

Many thanks are due to Bro. W. J. McHardy, P.M., for the very careful records which he has kept as Lodge Secretary, and all past secretaries; to Bro. J. S. Ewen, R.W.M. during the Jubilee Year, for his help and constructive ideas, and for the first typing of the manuscript; and finally to all the members of "1055" for just being members of the Lodge.
